How to Claim
How to Claim
What to do with a winning Kerala lottery ticket, and where to take it.
1. Check the result against the official list
Confirm the number, the series and the draw date. The Kerala State Lotteries Department's own result gazette is what a claim is settled against.
2. Sign the ticket and keep it safe
Sign the reverse of the winning ticket immediately and keep it undamaged. A torn, defaced or laminated ticket can be refused, and a ticket nobody has signed can be claimed by whoever holds it.
3. Claim within 30 days
The ticket must be surrendered within 30 days of the draw date. A prize that is not claimed inside that window is forfeited.
4. Take the right documents to the right office
You will need the original ticket, photo identification, and — for larger prizes — a bank account in your own name, PAN details and passport-sized photographs. Where you go depends on the amount, as set out below.
5. Expect tax to be deducted
Lottery winnings are taxable, and tax is deducted at source before payment. Agent commission is deducted where an agent is involved. The amount you receive is therefore lower than the headline prize.
How to Claim State Lottery Prize Money
If you win the State Lottery, you must follow the process of claiming your prize money, which involves surrendering the winning ticket and all required documents to the authorities within 30 days. If your winnings are less than Rs 5000, you can claim the prize money from any ticket agent. If you have won Rs 1 Lakh or less and are from the same district, you can claim your prize from the Department of District Lottery Offices. If you are from another state and have won Rs 1 Lakh or less, you can claim your prize from the Department of Directorate. For winnings of Rs 1 Lakh or more, you must claim your prize from the Department of Director of State Lotteries. If you have won between Rs 1 Lakh and Rs 20 Lakhs, you can claim your prize from the Department of Deputy Director. And if you have won Rs 20 Lakhs or more, you must claim your prize from the Department of Director.
Malluz is an independent service and is not affiliated with the Kerala State Lotteries Department. Claims are settled against the department's official published result.
